146 Duane Street
In 2006, UAL’s Laboz brothers completed full restoration of this pale, magnificently proportioned, classic cast-iron structure with elliptical arches over tall windows on the second floor. Here, where once a farm market for the city’s best butter, eggs, and cheese dealers was to be found, UAL converted 146 Duane into an enclave of luxury rental residences. On the building’s retail street level is the Jewish Community Project of Lower Manhattan, a non-profit organization.
